that when their child is quiet, they are either INTO or UP TO something, usually something they are not supposed to have. Which, of course, is why they are completely, totally occupied and quiet. My child is not an exception, as I found him this morning:
Apparently, when we took down the tree and all the ornaments, we missed the sole candy cane on the tree, courtesy of Grandpa and Grandma Crawford. He didn’t miss it.

Levi: congratulations on the contraband score. Next time, keep a rattle going in the other hand until your whole body is twitching with that sugar buzz. Do you have a special address (neighbor perhaps?) to which I can send you the remainder of my children’s Halloween candy?
Chloe: Come on girl, be a pal, will ya? Next time, create a diversion. He barely made it past the wrapper.
