At CMU! Lucky me. Thought I’d update my blog, since a lot has happened since last time. Levi has 2 new tricks: one makes me say “AHHHHHH” and the other makes me say “AWWWWW”. I finished the quilt I was working on, with loads of help from Levi.
In other news, Levi now has four teeth fully popped through.
I thought that it would make breastfeeding more difficult, or at least painful, but he hasn’t bitten me so we are OK with the top teeth. I have pulled out the lanolin and am using that again because the top teeth rub and make me a bit sore. The lanolin helps protect my skin, and I’ve noticed a marked decrease in uncomfortability since using it. On another note, I think he is getting yet another tooth. Last night was a wakeful night… **yawn** and he is congested again. He’s been congested twice before. The first coincided with the bottom teeth coming in. The next, his top teeth. I’m expecting to see another bump somewhere in his mouth this morning when he wakes up.
Which leads to new trick #1. Ugh.. He’s grinding his teeth! It’s like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. I’ve been told by other moms that this a phase and the newness of the teeth is why he is doing it. Let’s hope so! We have a dentist appointment (supposed to be today in Mt. P, but canceled due to weather) in Feb. and the dentist agreed to have a look and see if there is a reason or if it is just a normal phase.
New trick #2 really needs a video attached. I’ll work on that. Last week, as we were leaving from daycare, I told Levi to say “bye-bye”. He did! He turned to Fawn, said “ba-bye” and waved. We looked at each other as if to say, “Did that really just happen???” So I asked him to do it again, and he did. And again. So not a fluke. And he did it after leaving church, and when we left my friends house, and… it’s SO cute. And Grandpa Doug and Grandma Deb got to see it over iChat, so they can verify the veracity of my account! Other than mama, it’s his first word! How exciting…
Can I get a collective… Awwwww.

Classes were cancelled yesterday because of a power outage on campus. What a great way to start the semester!
So I stayed home and played Susie-Homemaker.
I pulled out some frozen turkey broth leftover from Thanksgiving and made a super yummy turkey soup with yummy root veggies like rutabaga and carrots and green onions, oh my. And when I went to toss in a few egg noodles, I realized that OOPS, I didn’t have any. So I threw together some homemade egg noodles and they just made the soup go from good to fabulous. Yum!
Then while that was simmering away in the crockpot, I started piecing the baby quilt for my friend Tiffany’s shower next Saturday. I’ve completed 4 blocks – 8 more to go. Here’s my start:
Can you believe it? A post without Levi pics!!! (But that upper tooth did finally pop all the way through and can now be seen and felt.

that when their child is quiet, they are either INTO or UP TO something, usually something they are not supposed to have. Which, of course, is why they are completely, totally occupied and quiet. My child is not an exception, as I found him this morning:
Apparently, when we took down the tree and all the ornaments, we missed the sole candy cane on the tree, courtesy of Grandpa and Grandma Crawford. He didn’t miss it.

And happy new tooth too! Yup, this morning I discovered tooth number 3. Looks like Levi is about to get his top teeth now!
We had a good, if not busy, Christmas holiday. It was fun with all the grandparents and even though Levi didn’t understand what this gift wrap stuff was all about, he sure did understand that he was getting LOADS of attention.
